Core capture and annotate stay free forever. Pro unlocks scrolling auto-crop, multilingual OCR, smart erase, PDF paging, advanced recording, plus cloud translate / formulas / share links.

Nothing uploaded by default. Works offline.

FIRST 60 SECONDS

The first minute in this screenshot tool

Screenshot → annotate → copy. If a new user cannot finish this in a minute, the rest of the site does not matter.

    01

    Capture

Press your screenshot shortcut (change it in Settings, or take over the system keys). Drag a region. The annotate toolbar sits under the selection.

    02

    Annotate

Add an arrow or a label. Single-letter tools — you do not have to open the full editor first.

    03

    Copy

Copy (or ⌘C). Paste into chat, mail, or a ticket. Nothing is uploaded.

Download, then run these three steps

FEATURES

Everything FoxSnip should do as your screenshot tool

From capture to markup to OCR and long pages — the FoxPack screenshot app in one scan.

Region · Window · Screen

Take a screenshot of a region, a window, or the full display, then copy it. FoxSnip is screen capture software: the screen capture tool for a screenshot Mac workflow. A screenshot Windows download and a screenshot PC download are not available yet.

Beautiful backgrounds

Make screenshots stand out with gradient backgrounds, soft shadows, and rounded corners.

Scrolling screenshots

A scrolling screenshot, the full page screenshot, stitches a long web page or an entire chat into one tall image. Auto-crop of the long shot is a Pro feature.

Pixelate or remove

Hide sensitive bits behind a pixelated curtain, or use basic erase. Text mode hides text without corrupting anything else. Smart erase (inpaint) is Pro.

Text recognition (OCR) & QR

Extract text from screenshot pixels that will not select. Default-language OCR and QR stay on the Mac. Multilingual OCR and industrial barcode recognition are Pro (multilingual OCR may run on the server).

Markup screenshots

Add text, freehand drawings, highlights, spotlights, and arrows right after you capture. To crop a screenshot you already have, open the editor and use Crop. The steps are on the blog.

Pin screenshots

Pin images as floating always-on-top windows. Handy for references, or as temporary screenshot storage. Right-click copy text from a stickered image is Pro.

Clean desktop / pick UI

Hide desktop icons for a clean shot. Hold Shift to pick components inside a window.

Zoom in on your pixels

Think of FoxSnip as a digital magnifying glass. Pan, zoom, and inspect every pixel.

Combine on a canvas

Put multiple captures on the same canvas / .snip project — revisit complex markups anytime. PDF paging is Pro.

Record + ship

When a still isn’t enough, record. The built-in editor helps you ship a polished demo cut. Advanced screen recording is Pro.

Pro advanced

Scrolling auto-crop, multilingual OCR, industrial barcodes, smart erase, PDF paging, sticker right-click text copy, advanced recording — plus cloud translate, formula/table recognition, and share links.

Page map

How this screenshot tool is organized

This page is the map of one screenshot tool. The first heading is the job. The sections under it are the first minute, the feature list, why the license is a buyout, who it is for, and the questions. Read them in that order.

The first minute in the screenshot tool

Install, press the shortcut, and drag a region. The markup bar sits under the selection. Add an arrow or a label, then copy. If that loop does not finish in a minute, the rest of this screenshot tool does not matter yet.

The shortcut can be changed in Settings, or FoxSnip can take over the system screenshot keys. Nothing is uploaded when you copy.

Still, then markup, then clipboard

Region, window, or the full display. The screenshot tool copies the result so you can paste it into chat, mail, or a ticket.

Local recognition

Plain text and QR codes are read on the Mac. Formulas, tables, and chemical symbols use the optional Pro cloud, and only the selection you send.

What Pro does not replace

Capture, markup, local text recognition, scrolling shots, and recording stay on the free local tier. Pro is the cloud add-on, not the screenshot tool itself.

What the screenshot tool covers

Backgrounds, shadows, and rounded corners dress a shot for a post. Scrolling capture stitches a long page or a chat into one image. The editor can crop a screenshot to a frame, in pixels or percent. Pixelate hides a secret, or removes it. Pin keeps a shot floating above other windows. A canvas holds several shots in one project.

When a still is not enough, the same screenshot tool records a short movie and gives you a simple editor so the clip can ship. That recording is not a second product. FoxClip is the separate app when the movie is the whole job.

License, machine, and who it is for

Core capture, annotate, export, and default OCR are free forever. Pro unlocks scrolling auto-crop, multilingual OCR, smart erase, PDF paging, advanced recording, and cloud. The screenshot tool runs on macOS 12 or later, Apple Silicon and Intel. A Windows installer is not available yet. Commercial use is allowed on the free tier.

Designers use it for pixel checks and backdrops. Developers use it for bug reports and text that will not select. Support teams use scrolling shots, redaction, and Pin. Creators use it when the still, or a short recording, has to leave the screen looking finished. FoxSnip is that screenshot tool. Keep the screenshot tool on the Mac you already use. It is a comprehensive screenshot tool, not a single-purpose extra.

FAQ

Screenshot tool questions

Core capture, annotate, export, and default OCR are free forever. Pro unlocks scrolling auto-crop, multilingual OCR, industrial barcodes, smart erase, PDF paging, sticker right-click text copy, advanced recording, plus cloud translate / formulas / share links. See the pricing page.

macOS 12 or later, Apple Silicon and Intel. A Windows installer is not available yet — it will be added when the build is ready.

Not by default. Capture, annotate, default OCR, and export stay on your machine. Multilingual OCR may run on the server. Formula, table, and chemical symbol recognition, cloud translation, and link sharing upload your selected content — only when you use those Pro features.

The system tool only captures. FoxSnip adds annotation, OCR, scrolling capture, Pin, history, and optional advanced recording — one app for the whole workflow.

Ghostty uses the macOS Secure Keyboard Entry API to prevent other applications or background processes from monitoring or capturing your keystrokes when you type sensitive information like passwords. While Ghostty is focused, FoxSnip’s global shortcut may not fire. Switch to another app and try again, or start a capture from the menu bar or Dock. This is macOS blocking the keys, not a FoxSnip shortcut conflict.
