FoxSnap ("we", "us", "our") is a local-first screenshot tool. This policy explains what we collect, what stays on your device, and what is uploaded when you use cloud features.

The short version

• Screenshots, annotations, plain-text OCR, exports, and recordings stay on your device by default.
• Only specific cloud features — formula, table, and chemical symbol recognition, cloud translation, and link sharing — send your content to our servers, and only when you use them.
• We don't sell your data. We collect the minimum needed to run the product.

What stays on your device

Everything below is processed locally and never leaves your machine:

• Screenshot capture (region, window, full screen, scrolling)
• Annotation, redaction, watermark, and image editing
• Plain-text OCR (recognizing regular text in an image)
• QR code reading
• Local exports and .snip projects
• Screen recording and editing (when available)

What is uploaded to our servers

Some content requires more powerful models that can't run on-device. When you start one of these features, the selected content is uploaded, processed, and the result is returned:

• Formula recognition — math formulas (LaTeX, equations)
• Table recognition — extracting structured tables from images
• Chemical symbol / structure recognition
• Cloud translation
• Link sharing — when you choose to upload a screenshot to generate a share link

These are Pro (server) features. Plain-text OCR is always local and never uploads your image. We process uploaded content transiently and do not use it to train models or build profiles.

Information we collect

• License & activation — to validate Trial / Plus / Pro entitlements.
• Email (optional) — only if you subscribe to update notifications or contact support.
• Basic analytics — anonymous, aggregated usage and crash data to improve the app (no screenshot content).

How we share information

We don't sell personal data. We may share with:

• Service providers — hosting, payments, and the cloud recognition providers that process the features above, only as needed to provide the service.
• Legal requirements — when required by law.

Data retention

• Local content stays on your device; we don't have access to it.
• Uploaded content (formulas, tables, chemical symbols, translations) is processed transiently and deleted after processing. Share links and their images are stored until you delete them or they expire (7 / 30 days).

Your choices

• Use FoxSnap fully offline for capture, annotation, and plain-text OCR.
• Delete share links from the app at any time.
• Unsubscribe from update emails at any time.
