Capture · Annotate · Record

FoxSnip

Screenshots & annotation

Capture any part of your screen and mark it up in seconds. Read the text, recognize math, translate a selection, or hang shots on a clothesline — plus arrows, blur, and a quick recording.

  • Capture anything

Full screen, a window, or a precise region — one shortcut away.
  • Annotate instantly

Arrows, shapes, text, highlights, and blur to make your point.
  • Read the text

OCR turns words in the shot into text you can copy. Plain text stays on the Mac.
  • Recognize math

Turn a formula on screen into math you can copy. Formula recognition is a Pro cloud feature.
  • Translate

Drag over foreign text and translate it without leaving the shot. Translation sends that selection to FoxSnip's servers.
  • Clothesline

Hang shots on a line at the top of the screen. It stays tucked until the pointer reaches the top edge, then you can drag a picture out.
  • Simple recording

Grab a quick screen recording when a screenshot isn't enough.

WHY FOXPACK

Why these screen capture tools stay local

Both tools share the same philosophy — fast, local, and yours.

Built with GPUI

Written in the GPUI toolkit — a fast, UI for every platform. One codebase, cross-platform ready.

Local-first

Screenshots and recordings stay on your device. FoxSnip uploads a file only when you turn on a Pro cloud feature.

Local tools, one-time

Local features are a one-time purchase. AI and cloud features are optional subscriptions.

Made to work together

Snip it, mark it up, record it, cut it — one smooth workflow.

Page map

How these screen capture tools divide the work

FoxPack is a pair of screen capture tools, sold and installed separately. FoxSnip is the still. FoxClip is the recording. The headings on this page follow that split, from the job each app does to the questions people ask before they download.

Start from the artifact you need to ship

A bug, a design note, or a setting that is hard to describe is usually a still. Open FoxSnip, drag a region, a window, or the full display, and mark the one thing the reader must see. Arrows, text, shapes, highlights, and blur are the whole markup set for that job.

A path through a product is a recording. Open FoxClip when the order of clicks matters more than a single frame. It records system audio and the microphone, then gives you a timeline to trim, split, and rearrange before a Metal-accelerated export.

FoxSnip for the frame

Copy the marked-up still into chat, mail, or a ticket. The same shot can become copyable text, a formula, or a translation, or hang on the clothesline at the top of the screen. A short screen recording is there only when the still cannot carry the point.

Markup on the selection

The tools sit with the capture, so a bug report does not need a second graphics app.

When to blur

Blur a name, a token, or an inbox before the still leaves the Mac. Leave the rest of the frame sharp so the point stays obvious.

FoxClip for the path

Record the click path, cut the dead air, and export. The free tier exports 1080p with a small watermark. Pro is a one-time purchase for watermark-free 4K at 60 frames per second, two Macs, and one year of updates.

What stays on the machine

FoxClip recordings stay on the Mac, including while you are offline. FoxSnip keeps screenshots, annotations, plain-text recognition, exports, and its own recordings on the device. A file is uploaded only when you use a FoxSnip Pro cloud feature: formula recognition, table recognition, chemical-symbol recognition, cloud translation, or a share link.

Share-link images remain until you delete them or they expire after 7 or 30 days. The privacy policy for each app lists every case. FoxSnip core capture stays free forever. Pro unlocks advanced local features and cloud. Commercial use is allowed on both apps. Treat that boundary as part of how these screen capture tools are built.

Which screen capture tools run today

These screen capture tools are for a picture or a short movie of the screen. FoxPack is not a delivery or courier app. FoxSnip runs on macOS 12 or later. FoxClip runs on macOS 14 or later. Both run on Apple Silicon and Intel. A Windows build of FoxClip is in development, and a Windows installer for FoxSnip is not available yet.

Reach the studio at hi@foxpack.app for orders, refunds, and bugs. Refunds run for 14 days on paid plans: FoxSnip Pro mistaken charges or unavailable cloud features, and FoxClip Pro with no reason required.
