# Privacy Policy

FoxClip ("we", "us", "our") is a local-first screen recorder for macOS. This policy explains what stays on your Mac, what we collect to run the business, and how the two are kept apart.

## The short version

- Recording, click and cursor tracking, editing and export all happen on your Mac.
- FoxClip never uploads your footage. There is no cloud rendering step and no account required to record.
- We collect only what is needed to sell and support a license: purchase details, an activation check, and page-level website analytics.
- We don't sell your data.

## What stays on your device

Everything below is processed locally and never leaves your machine:

- Screen recording (display, window, region), system audio and microphone
- Camera overlay and camera framing
- Click, cursor and movement tracking used for auto-zoom
- Editing: zooms, camera moves, backgrounds, shadows, trims and playback speed
- Export to 1080p or 4K, including Metal-accelerated encoding
- Recording library, edits and project metadata

FoxClip works fully offline. If you never activate a paid license or sign up for email updates, the app never needs to talk to our servers at all.

## What we collect

- **Purchase & license data** — when you buy Pro we receive the order details (email, item, amount) and, on activation, the license key plus a hashed machine identifier so the license can be validated and re-issued. We don't receive your footage, filenames or screen contents.
- **Support email** — if you write to us, we keep the conversation so we can help you.
- **Email updates (optional)** — only if you ask to be notified about releases. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe.
- **Website analytics** — the marketing pages use Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity to count visits, referrers and rough region, and to record anonymised interaction heatmaps. These tools set cookies and process truncated IP addresses. They are loaded on the website only, never inside the app, and can be blocked by any content blocker without affecting anything.

## What we never collect

- Your recordings, screenshots, audio or camera video
- The contents of windows you record, or window and document titles
- Keystrokes beyond the click and cursor positions needed for auto-zoom (these stay on-device)
- Contact lists, calendar data or files from your Mac

## How we share information

We don't sell personal data. We share the minimum with:

- **Payment and merchant-of-record providers** — to process the purchase, handle tax and deliver the license key.
- **Infrastructure providers** — hosting, email delivery and the analytics services described above.
- **Legal requirements** — when we are required by law to disclose information.

## Data retention

- Local content stays on your device; we have no access to it and cannot delete it for you.
- Purchase records are kept as long as tax law requires.
- Analytics data is retained in aggregate, in line with the providers' default periods.
- Update-subscription emails are kept until you unsubscribe.

## Your choices

- Use FoxClip entirely offline for recording, editing and export.
- Deactivate a Mac in the app to free up an activation.
- Unsubscribe from update emails at any time.
- Ask us to delete your support history or email subscription by writing to the address below.
- Block website analytics with any content blocker — the site works exactly the same.

## Children

FoxClip is a professional tool and is not directed at children under 13.
